Update: We’re on! The chance of rain dropped to 10% so we’ll see you all at City Hall.

Update: If you are on the North side of town and would like to ride with a group to City Hall, DORBA and TeamDART will be leaving from Mockingbird Station at 7:30AM and riding up the Katy trail, through the AAC and winding towards city hall.

If you are leaving from the Southern sector, a group will be meeting at 7:30AM in the Bishop Arts District, in front of Eno’s, where Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters will provide free coffee. From there, the group will meet up with the council members leaving Union Station.

  1. Dallas

I am so there. I’ll try to spread the word, is there a flyer I can print out and pass along to friends?

    Facebooked for sure!

  2. In ! Glad to see this is happening.

  3. Skyfan

I love the video. However, everything is shown during comfortable, warm weather. What happens during heavy rain, snow and ice and even just really cold weather to the bicycles? What about all the people who have disabilities that do not allow them to walk long distances or bicycle? Just wondering…

    Wednesday Morning, October 7th, 2009
I will get up and ride my hybrid (bicycle) to City Hall. I’ve been using the bicycle + DART train combo to travel from White Rock Lake to my part-time job in a Parkland Clinic West of the West End for almost 3 years now. Burn fat, reduce your carbon footprint, treat snoring/obstructive sleep apnea, advocate for your planet… all at once! I hope everyone who CAN, will DO THIS!! The oil companies have had us all by the balls for so, SO long… pulled off “9/11″ without a flaw… have us in bogus wars, occupying foreign countries, killing millions of innocents, bankrupting our nation… it’s so rotton-to-the-core and yet, here we go: saddle up your bicycle and ride! Ride for your health! Ride for your country! Ride for your PLANET!! Ride in SOLIDARITY!

  6. North Dallas Roadie

This is a great idea and will give badly needed visibility to the abysmal state of bike routes in Dallas (with the notable exception of White Rock Lake and Creek). I’d love to ride down and participate, but can’t think of a route downtown that is not tantamount to a suicide attempt. Can any experienced commuters recommend a safe route? Thanks.

  8. North Dallas Roadie

Looking for a safe bicycling route to city hall from the North Dallas Galleria area. Anybody know a safe way to get there?

  9. I’m not very familiar with the streets downtown so my tactic would be to avoid them where possible. Here are two suggestions:

Using DART or using the Katy Trail.

I haven’t ridden either route entirely so take these suggestions with a grain of salt.

i’m diggin the fest, guys and gals….looking forward to meeting more of you soon…

  11. Cindy

I’d love to bike to City Hall on the 7th. Any good routes from Illinois to City Hall?

  12. @ NDR. I have ridden Preston to Downtown often when I lived in Addison. A blinkie and a bright shirt wouldn’t hurt.

  13. Byron

Illinois Ave? Just take Zang Blvd. or Beckley Ave. to Zang and then down the hill and across the river.

From North Dallas, just take your bike on a train or bus to downtown then ride your bike.

  14. North Dallas Roadie. From Galleria, go West toward Welch, then South, then East on Harvest Hill, then South on Montfort/Nuestra. Cross Forest at either Nuestra or Jamestown, then go East on Northaven. Take Northaven East to St. Michaels/Boedeker, and take that down to the Katy.

Most of this can be done via Pegasus Routes….

For Pingback: late, I know, but for future reference, there are bike racks on the west, east & south sides of City Hall.
