Congrats to BFOC member, Eric Cowan!

As of 7PM today, BFOC member Eric Cowan has won the District 7 DISD Board of Trustee race. Several BFOC’ers helped manage the campaign and official word from the Dallas Morning News is that Eric “trounced” the competition. This is an exciting time for North Oak Cliff, and especially for the opportunity to look at adopting Bicycle-Friendly initiatives within the school district. Safe Routes to School programs have been developed throughout the nation, but North Texas has lagged in implementing a successful program. SRTS not only reduce vehicle emissions, and create a safer walkable community, but also address the epidemic of childhood obesity. BFOC is excited to work with Eric and help create the most Bike-Friendly community in the nation for our kids!
