Speaking of utility commuter bikes, just ran across Bowery Lane Bicycles, who handbuild simple but beautiful commuters out of New York City using American steel. They come loaded with Brooks saddle, cork grips, and a handcrafted wood crate which they note “is perfectly sized for two six packs, shopping bag, or 25 LPs”. They’re under $600 with free shipping, which is a great deal for an American made bike with retro design hints.
